Brainstorming Questions
Below are a few questions to help get you started
What are you looking to improve for students overall?
ex. I would like to create more career readiness for my students.
What will students be able to do, say, and/or feel after completing your initiative or program?
ex. Students will gain technical tools and networks necessary to research and pursue a career in any professional field.
Do you currently have any internal resources to support this goal and objective?
ex. Staff, materials, space, partners.
What additional resources do you need?
ex. Volunteers, equipment, technology.
Do you need to bring in external partners to achieve the desired goals and objectives? If yes, who?
What activities will you or your partners offer for students to ultimately reach their goals and objectives?
ex. Workshops, services, resources, training.
ex. Students will take part in biweekly, in-school networking events with professionals from various sectors to receive exposure, mentorship, and ongoing research opportunities.
Think of a timeframe of your initiative or project in 2-3 phases. This can be weeks, months, or years. What will students be able do, say, and/or feel at each phase?
Things to consider in each phase
Phase 1 (month 3 or year 1) - New Knowledge, New Awareness, New Motivations
ex. Students gain knowledge and awareness around various career sectors and paths.
Phase 2 (month 6 or year 2) - New Behaviors and New Practices
ex. Students actively take initiative to research experimental opportunities and develop their own individual plan for pursing their professional goals.
Phase 3 (month 10 or year 3) - Impact of program on students, educational environment and/or learning experience
ex. Students have an in-depth personal, professional network and professional opportunities that they participate in and continue to gain exposure and skills to attain their vision of success.
